Kiveo is coming to Android.

The same quiet reading journal, made for Android from the ground up. Keep track of your reading sessions, save the lines that stayed with you, and let your reading life take shape at its own pace.

Coming to Google Play in December · Free to download

The only advice, indeed, that one person can give another about reading is to take no advice, to follow your own instincts, to use your own reason, to come to your own conclusions.

The same quiet corner, on a different phone.

We didn’t wrap the iPhone app and call it done. Kiveo for Android is built for Android itself, so it behaves the way the rest of your phone does: your font size, your back gesture, light and dark, and room to breathe on tablets and foldables.

It will

  • Keep time while you read, with a small notification that stays out of the way.
  • Save a quote by typing it or by taking a photo of the page, with a reflection if you have one in you.
  • Hold your library on shelves you control, with honest statuses: Reading Now, To Be Read, Paused, Done, Not Finished.
  • Keep seven books on your Nightstand, within arm’s reach.
  • Grow your intentions as a vine, a leaf at a time. Nothing marks a missed week.
  • Bring your history over from Goodreads.
  • Turn a quote or a finished book into a card worth sharing.
  • Send a gentle reminder, only if you ask for one.

It won’t

  • Keep streaks for you to lose.
  • Show you ads.
  • Ask you to make an account.

Private, the Android way.

Your library lives on your phone. If you’d like a backup, Kiveo can keep a private copy in your own Google Drive, in a folder only the app can open. We never see it. There’s no account to create, no ads, and nothing sold.

Coming over from iPhone?

Export a backup from Kiveo on your iPhone, open it in Kiveo for Android, and your books, shelves, quotes and reflections come with you. The two apps don’t keep each other up to date on their own, so if you read on both, move a fresh backup when you switch.

A few questions, answered plainly.

When is it coming?

We’re aiming for December. If that moves, the people on the list hear first.

What will it cost?

Kiveo is free to download, with no ads and no account. As on iPhone, there’s an optional tip jar if you’d like to support the work.

Which phones will it run on?

Android 10 or later. It’s designed for phones and adapts to tablets and foldables.

Which languages?

English and Spanish at launch.

Can I try it early?
